... read on Virginia wills
Virginia Pioneers Virginia Pioneers has digitized many of the old Virginia Wills (some estates) and marriages and publishing them to this website. Because the colony was established in the earliest part of the 1600s, the collections equate to 400 years! Anyone doing genealogical research in the Virginia records is aware of how extensive the work is. One of the factors is the fact that all of the original will books kept by the clerk of each county is housed at the Virginia State Library. Faded ink, water damage, age and the size of these books is problematical. We are putting the wills into the PDF format so that you can use the magnification feature. The listing of what we have available thus far is listed by each county. To view images, you must Become a Member Colonial Handwriting
